Currently living in The Netherlands, Sophia is a social scientist and a development professional with over 7 years of working experience in international cooperation in Latin America and Europe. Sophia holds an M.A. in Cultural Anthropology with focus on digital culture from Leiden University, a Specialisation in Media Studies and New Information Technologies, from Universidad Andina in Ecuador, and a B.A. in Sociology and Development Studies, from Universidad Catolica del Ecuador.

Mitch is a native of New Orleans, but has lived the last 5 years in Istanbul, where he witnessed first-hand the devastating impact patriarchy can have on the livelihood and dreams of women and girls (as well as many non-conforming people and sexual minorities). Mitch graduated from George Washington University with a B.A in International Development, and worked as an editor and researcher at a think tank, as well as an education consultant for several years before starting his Master’s in Political Science at Istanbul’s Boğaziçi University. Mitch is very excited to join the team at IWI to help women across the world achieve equal rights, justice, and fair treatment.
Emily Kitongo is an External Relations professional currently based in Madrid. She holds a Bachelor’s in International Studies from Monash University and is currently pursuing a Masters in Corporate Communication at IE Business School. Her professional passions are gender equality, sustainable development and agriculture. She has worked with the various UN agencies including UNODC, IFAD and the UN Secretariat. Emily is a travel and language enthusiast who speaks English, French, Spanish, Italian, Luganda, Lugishu and Swahili.
